Kia Ora Active at Fasig Tipton November Sale

Mark Smith - Wednesday November 8

The Fasig-Tipton November Sale has been a happy hunting ground for Kia-Ora Stud, and the Hunter Valley showpiece struck three times at the Kentucky Sale..

Kia-Ora had the final say on the beautifully related Fastnet Rock mare Star Devine (IRE) (Lot 188).

Consigned by Indian Creek, Star Devine (IRE) was purchased for $650,000.

A $200,000 gns purchase for agent Mike Ryan from the Marhill House consignment at the 2019 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Star Devine (IRE) raced exclusively in North America.

A stakes-winner at Saratoga and Aqueduct and Grade III-placed, Star Devine (IRE) is a sister to Poker Face, who closed out the season for Simon and Ed Crisford with a two-length win in the Group II  Prix Daniel Wildenstein at Longchamp after wins in the Group III  Prix Quincey at Deauville and a Listed race at Pontefract.

Star Devine’s dam Stars At Night (Galileo) is a winning half-sister to  Blue Bunting (Dynaformer), winner of the Thousand Guineas, Irish Oaks, and Yorkshire Oaks.

A 5-time winner of over $712,000, Bubble Rock won the Grade III Matron Stakes at Belmont at two, the Grade II Mrs Revere Stakes at Churchill Downs at three, and a Listed race at Saratoga at four.

Her dam Reef Point (Giant’s Causeway) is a daughter of Grade II Demoiselle Stakes winner Dixie City (Dixie Union) from the family of former shuttler Dehere (USA).

Kia-Ora was back in action, buying the talented Empire Maker filly Haughty (USA) for $850,000 (lot 260).
