Juvenile Trial Watch – Hawkesbury and Benalla

Tara Madgwick - Monday November 13

There were two heats for juveniles at Hawkesbury on Monday morning and Everest hero Yes Yes Yes sired the winner of one heat and a close second in the other, plus a fascinating heat winner at Benalla.

Trained by Stephen O’Halloran and ridden by Tom Sherry, Yes Yes Yes filly Nymphadora had a very good experience in her first trial, jumping well to lead and settling nicely to allow another runner to slide up on the inside. She travelled well next to that filly and then saw her off before being challenged late by the Godolphin homebred Epaulette colt Glorioso, a half-brother to slick juvenile Group winner Arcaded.

Nymphadora was a bargain $30,000 Inglis Classic purchase, but is a half-sister to stakes-winner Coco Sun from a winning sister to Champion Hong Kong Stayer Liberator and to the dam of Group II winner Etana.

The second trial was significantly slower with Godolphin’s Blue Point (IRE) filly Efharisto leading all the way to win by ahead over another Yes Yes Yes filly in Triple Yes with good looking Exceed and Excel colt Gram a quiet third.

Efharisto is certainly bred to be above average as a half-sister to $2.3million earning multiple Group winner Savatiano, $1.8million earning Group III winner Vilana and stakes-winner Athiri being from top producing Redoute’s Choice mare Retsina.

It was a good day at the trials for Coolmore based Yes Yes Yes, who also had an eye-catching heat winner at Benalla in Victoria for Prime Thoroughbreds.

The Patrick Payne trained filly Flattered powered home between runners to win the 1000m trial by a neck in an encouraging performance.

Flattered was snapped up by Joe O’Neill of Prime Thoroughbreds for $130,000 at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale and is from a family he knows all too well. She is the first foal of Zizzis, who was also bought by Prime as a yearling for $120,000 and proved a great success winning four races and over $300,000 in prizemoney with a feature win in the Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic.

Flattered is looking like a very savvy purchase for Prime Thoroughbreds.

Zizzis is a half-sister to one of the best horses Prime Thoroughbreds have ever raced in bonny Rubick filly Rubisaki. The multiple Group winner of $1.2million was on-sold as a broodmare prospect for $1million at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale last year providing a fitting finale to a stellar career.

Flattered is very closely related to Rubisaki as her sire Yes Yes Yes is by Rubisaki’s sire Rubick, so connections will no doubt be hoping lightning can strike twice!
