First Winner for Sizzling

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 8
Newgate Farm's exciting young sire Sizzling made his mark on Cup Day to sire his very first winner.

SizzlingOpening her account with a determined win at Murwillumbah was the Angela Plumb trained filly Sugar Sizzle, who carried the Aquis Farm colours to victory.

She beat older rivals to win the 900 metre open maiden by a short head with nearly five lengths back to the third horse, showing sharp improvement on her first outing at the Gold Coast last month when she raced greenly from the outside gate.

A $55,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Marquee Stud draft for Aquis Farm/Blue Sky Bloodstock, Sugar Sizzle is the second winner from Exceed and Excel mare Sugar Rose, who comes from the family of dual Group I winner Egg Tart.

A Group I winning two year-old by champion sire Snitzel, Sizzling has been popular with breeders covering nearly 400 mares in his first three seasons and stands at a fee of $16,500.
