16th Stakes Winner for Dream Ahead

Mark Smith - Sunday November 12

The win by Hawkes Racing's progressive Dream Ahead (USA) gelding Intueri at Rosehill on Saturday proved the perfect lead-in for the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Dream Of Dreams to become the 16th stakes-winner for Dream Ahead (USA) in the Listed Wentworth Stakes (6f) at Doncaster.

Dream Of Dreams has had a comparatively light campaign this year after starting six times at two when he was a winner at Haydock and placed in the Group II Railway Stakes at The Curragh and the Listed Rockingham Stakes at York when he was trained by Kevin Ryan.

Settled back midfield by Jim Crowley, Dream Of Dreams showed an impressive turn of foot to defeat Perfect Pasture by a length with Danzeno two lengths away in third.

Bruce Raymond, the racing manager to owner Saeed Suhail, said the son of Dream Ahead (USA) would be tested in Group company again next campaign.

"We think this is his best distance. Sir Michael tested him over seven, but Ryan (Moore) rode him last time and said he's definitely better over six," Raymond told Sporting Life.

"He used to miss the kick a lot. He gave himself plenty to do Michael ironed out those problems.

"Saeed bought him out of Kevin Ryan's yard after seeing him at Newmarket as a two-year-old.

"He's had niggly problems but has got over them now.

"He's going to have to step up into Group company, but he needs soft ground."

A half-brother to the Group II placed Silverheels (Verglas) and multiple Listed placed Lasilia (Acclamation), Dream Of Dreams is out of the unraced Dansili mare Vasilia a half-sister to Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Airwave (Acclimation) who is the dam of three stakes winners including Meow (Storm Cat) the dam of Group 1 Two Thousand Guineas, Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes and Group 1 National Stakes winner Churchill (Galileo).

Five-time Group 1 winner Dream Ahead (USA) stands at Aquis Farm, Murrurundi in 2017 for a fee of $19,800.
