$150,000 Three in One Package Tops Inglis Digital

Media Release - Wednesday March 13

An appealing three-in-one package and an undefeated 3YO shared top honours in the Inglis Digital March (Early) Online Sale today, realising $150,000 each.

The broodmare Passionate Lass (Sebring) was offered by Newgate in foal to Brazen Beau and with a Brazen Beau colt foal at foot.

She sold to Durham Park’s Bruce Edward.

Passionate Lass sold for $150,000 with her Brazen Beau colt.

Edward, whose background is predominantly in standardbreds, first branched out into thoroughbreds in January when he purchased Slumber Party – in foal to Justify – for $255,000 on Inglis Digital.

Today’s purchase was just his second overall and he was delighted with what he’s taking home.

“It’s a pretty good package I thought. The mare’s good, it’s a really good family, she’s got a smart looking foal walking alongside her and she’s in foal again, so you can’t ask for much more than that,’’ Edward said.

“I was really happy because I set my bidding limit and that was $150,000 which my final bid got her. I didn’t have another bid in me.

“We’ll wean the foal and make some decisions then about where we foal the mare down and what we do with her after that.’’

Newgate’s Jackson Beirs added: “Passionate Lass was an enticing three-in-one package and we’re really happy with how she’s sold today.

“Newgate has long been a fan of the Inglis Digital platform, from day one basically, and this is just another in a long list of results that we couldn’t be happier with.

“We wish the new owner all the best with her and hope they enjoy tremendous success with Passionate Lass.’’

Today’s equal-top lot was Outsmarted, the undefeated 3YO from Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou’s stable, which sold to Chan Investments, also for $150,000.

Outsmarted was offered by TFI.

Another strong result in the March (Early) Sale was the annual Kooringal Stud yearling draft, which grossed $110,900.

In total, the March (Early) sale grossed $2,485,399.

Entries are now open for the March (Late) Sale and will remain so until midnight on Wednesday March 20.

The sale will run from March 22-27.
