North Sells a Snitzel Colt for $1.1million

Mark Smith - Monday April 8

A milestone first $1million sale for Mick and Pauline Malone’s North as a bid of $1,100,000 by Rosemont Stud/Suman Hedge Bloodstock for a son of Snitzel went unanswered on the final day of the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Sold on behalf of loyal client John Cordina, the striking chestnut colt is the second foal of the 4-time winner and multiple Group III-placed All Too Soon (All Too Hard) a half-sister to stakes-winner and Group II runner-up Rock Hero out of the two-time Group II winner and multiple Group 1-placed Galileo mare Gallant Tess.

“This is what you dream about and for a great client in John Cordina who has been so supportive for 15 to 20 years.

“He deserved to make that; he was such a beautiful colt. He has been out about 200 times. I bought the great-granddam, and John raced Gallant Tess and All Too Soon.”

Rosemont Alliance’s Anthony Mithen said the son of Snitzel looked like a real 2-year-old type.

“He looks all speed. By the time I got to see the guys shortlist he was the second most tired horse on the complex. I think we all can pick who the most tired was,” Mithen said.

“He was walked off his feet but handled it well.

“We’ll be pleased to see him in the Rosemont Alliance colours this time next year

“We have a few trainers in mind. There are a few that have supported us. He needs to go to a 2-year-old trainer.”
