Yulong have announced fees for 2024 on a power packed roster of eight stallions with a new addition to the ranks and Written Tycoon again listed as Private.
New addition Panthalassa showed incredible versatility and durability as a racehorse with earnings of $21 million; a feat unmatched by any other sire to have stood in Australia.
The talented son of world-class stallion Lord Kanaloa was a winner at two and went on to win in every season of his racing career which culminated in two international Group 1 races as an older horse.
Panthalassa performed in Stakes race company throughout his illustrious five year career on the track showing toughness and consistency throughout. He won seven of his 27 starts at distances of 1800 to 2000m and was placed a further six times.
In his native Japan, Panthalassa climbed up the ranks, taking out the Gr.3 Fukushima Kinen in emphatic style as a four-year-old. He went on to win the Gr.2 Nakayama Kinen at five and was a notable runner up to Equinox in the Gr.1 Tenno Sho during the same year.
It was on the world stage that Panthalassa truly excelled and at the pinnacle of his career won the Gr.1 Dubai Turf, beating home a stellar field which included three-time Gr.1 winner Colonel Liam (USA) as well as dual Gr.1 winners Saffron Beach (IRE) and Alfareeq (IRE).
The globe-trotting Japanese-bred added another jewel to his crown at six when he won the Gr.1 Saudi Cup against an elite field of multiple Gr.1 winners such as Geoglyph (JPN), Cafe Pharoah (USA), Jun Light Bolt (JPN) and Country Grammer (USA).
Out of the stakes-producing Montjeu mare Miss Pemberley, Australia’s highest earning horse at stud also offers breeders an outcross with further opportunity to tap into the prolific Lord Kanaloa sireline.
Yulong have already invested in this sireline with his Australian Group I winning son Tagaloa, whose first yearlings have been selling this year.

Yulong are excited to offer Panthalassa on his debut season at $16,500 including GST.
Exciting young sires Pierata and Alabama Express have both been given significant fee increases following some great results with their first runners this season.
Pierata rises from $44,000 to $66,000 and Alabama Express from $22,000 to $55,000.
Pierata will have a shot at Group I success this Saturday with his quality colt Fearless engaged in the Group I ATC Champagne Stakes bidding to become his third stakes-winner joining Group III winners Tobeornottobe and Coleman, who was a close second in the Group I Golden Slipper Stakes.
“Pierata’s first crop have certainly delivered on the excitement they promised as yearlings; his two stakes winners and five stakes horses the best of his freshman sire class. We’re pretty excited about what is in store as they enter their 3-year-old year, because he’s exceeded our expectations at every juncture so far,” said Cox.
Flying the starting gates with his debut crop, Alabama Express has sired six black-type two-year-olds to date this season, placing him sixth on the 2YO Sire Premiership by earnings and third by winners. Among his standouts include the impressive $1 million Inglis Golden Gift victor Shangri La Express and Group III VRC Ottawa Stakes winner Karavas.
“To compete with the top juvenile sires in the country off only 10 runners is a phenomenal achievement,” said Cox.
“He’s the only sire in Australia this season to have produced six 2-year-old winners from less than 15 runners.”
Alabama Express accomplished a significant milestone as the fastest first-season sire to surpass $1 million in progeny earnings, cementing his place in history. During the 2024 sales season, Alabama Express’ second-crop yearlings continued to be popular, selling for up to $400,000 and averaging ten times his service fee.
