Pierata Gelding Pareto Makes Exciting Debut

Mark Smith - Thursday April 25

Heavily backed favourite Pareto looks to have an exciting future judging on his facile win on debut in the Martin Collins Australia Hcp (1000m) at the Sunshine Coast on Anzac Day.

Ridden by Kyle Wilson-Taylor for David McColm, the 2-year-old son of Pierata jumped best from an outside barrier and was barely out of second gear to defeat the Headwater gelding Auaholic by three and a half lengths with the Encryption gelding Cryptostar back in third.

to was a $160,000 purchase for Tresbland Pty Ltd from the Telemon Thoroughbreds draft at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Bred by Jorshan Investments, Pareto is the first winner for the 3-time winner O'Rachael (Northern Meteor), who was third in the Group 1 ARC Diamond Stakes.

Pareto a $160,000 Magic Millions yearling

Telemon Stud had purchased O'Rachael off Segenhoe Stud for $260,000 at the  2021 Inglis Chairman's Sale.

O'Rachael’s Bivouac colt was a $260,000 buy for Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA)/Riverstone Lodge from the Telemon Thoroughbreds draft at the 2023 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale before failing to meet his reserve at the 2024 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

O'Rachael was covered by Spirit Of Boom last spring.

Pareto is the sixth first-crop winner - 1 in NZ - for Pierata, whose fee increased to $66,000 at Yulong Stud for the forthcoming season.
