Kodiac Hits 60 2YO Winners

Tara Madgwick - Thursday December 28
A couple of months back Kodiac was making news for breaking the world record for two year-old winners previously held by Sunday Silence (51 winners) and with just a couple of days left of 2017, the three-quarter brother by Danehill to Invincible Spirit has cracked 60 two year-old winners.

Let's put that in context.

KodiacOur champion Australian sire Snitzel sired 35 winners last season from 78 starters when he set a new Australian record, Kodiac has sired 60 winners from 118 starters.

Kodiac's 60th two year-old winner came in the shape of two year old filly Hello Brigette, who scored at Wolverhampton on Wednesday at her third start.

Standing at Tally Ho Stud at a fee of 50,000 euros, Kodiac is a sire on the up with sales results this year reflecting growing demand for his offspring.

Australian breeders seeking to tap into the Invincible Spirit bloodline have been spoiled for choice this year with a myriad of options including Coolmore's dual Group I winner Pride of Dubai, who is closely related to Invincible Spirit through his female family.

By Street Cry (IRE), Pride of Dubai stands at a fee of $44,000 and is from Al Anood, a half-sister to the dam of Invincible Spirit and Kodiac..

For sire sons of Invincible Spirit there were several choices to look at.

Of course there is I Am Invincible, who covered a full book at a fee of $110,000 at Yarraman Park, but outside of him come a wide range of options.

Brazen Beau will have his first yearlings selling in 2018There are his sires sons, horse such as Brazen Beau (Darley $44,000) and Super One (Newgate $11,000), as well as four new sons of Invincible Spirit to shuttle into Australia along with Cornerstone Stud's Zebedee (GB), returning for his third season.

Arrowfield Stud have Shalaa (IRE) at a fee of $33,000, Darley have Territories at $22,000, Woodside Park have Cable Bay (IRE) at $19,800 and Chatswood Stud have Ajaya (GB) at $13,200.

Brazen Beau and Zebeddee will have their first yearlings at the 2018 sales.

The rise of the Green Desert sireline is breathing new life into the Danzig sire dynasty, which has dominated Australian racing since the arrival of Danehill in 1990.
