The I Am Invincible sireline goes from strength to strength and Lyndhurst Stud are thrilled and delighted to have taken a stake in this ever-evolving story.
In 2022, the Kruger family added his brilliant Group winning juvenile Barbaric to their roster and with nearly 180 mares covered in his first two seasons, Barbaric has his first crop of impressive foals on the ground and is fit and ready for his third year at stud remaining at the same fee of $8,800.
I Am Invincible is powering towards a third successive champion sire title having sired the winners of a record breaking $30million this season with his jewel in the crown the 10-time Group I winning mare Imperatriz, who sold recently at the MM National Sale for $6.6million.
Sire sons of I Am Invincible have also been in hot form with Hellbent siring two Group I winners in Magic Time and Benedetta to be Australia’s leading third crop sire by earnings, Brazen Beau delivered a Group I winner for Godolphin in Zapateo and Overshare, who has a similar profile to Barbaric, also sired the $2.1million earning Group I winner Lady Laguna.
Looking a little further into the future of this exciting sireline we saw Brazen Beau’s first son to stud Tassort, make an immediate impression posting 10 first crop winners headed by the Group I winning filly Manaal off an $11,000 fee!
Barbaric is one of only two stallions by reigning champion sire I Am Invincible standing in Queensland and the other is Kobayashi, who has sired seven juvenile winners this season from 14 starters that have won over $1.3million and include the stakes-winner Mishani Lily.
Kobayashi sits just outside the Top 10 2YO sires in the country by earnings and his success has not been lost on Jeff Kruger and the team at Lyndhurst Stud.
“Kobayashi probably has similarities with our stallion Barbaric in being a fast stakes-winning juvenile by the dominant sire in Australia and based on what we’ve seen from his first crop of foals we have every confidence in his ability to achieve similar success,” said Jeff Kruger.
Barbaric has immaculate credentials in terms of pedigree and type, which is why he was purchased for $900,000 as a Magic Millions yearling from the Segenhoe draft by China Horse Club/Newgate Bstock/WinStar Farm and stands at Lyndhurst Stud in association with Newgate.
“I strongly believe Barbaric was the standout yearling at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale of his year,” said Newgate’s Managing Director Henry Field.
“He was a horse with really good talent that we didn’t get to see the best of and will certainly get his opportunity at stud being managed by the Kruger family who have launched so many excellent sires in Queensland during its long history.”
Barbaric retired lightly raced with two wins from five starts highlighted by his Group III victory in the Canberra Black Opal Stakes at two and has an impressive female pedigree that is a work in progress.
Barbaric is the best of five winners from Group II winning $1.1million earner Mimi Lebrock, who won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and was also third in the Group I VRC Emirates Stakes and Myer Classic. He is a half-sister to Group III placed mare Diddles, who sold for $1million at the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale and is also closely related to stakes-winning mare Shoko (a half-sister to Mimi Lebrock), who also sold for $1million at the 2021 Inglis Chairman’s Sale.
The first living foal from Diddles is a colt by I Am Invincible that sold at Magic Millions this year for $300,000 to Kennewell Racing/Group 1 Bloodstock (FBAA)/Race With Lizzie/TFI and Shoko produced a filly by I Am Invincible last spring and is now in foal to his champion son Home Affairs, so it’s not hard to see this pedigree improving sharply in the near future.
Barbaric stands alongside Better Than Ready, who is the leading Queensland based sire this season by earnings and winners.
