Zaaki Second in Equimillion New Stars Qualifier at Tamworth

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 27

The North and North West Showjumping Club Tamworth World Cup last weekend was the venue for the second Equimillion New Star Thoroughbreds jumping class for thoroughbreds recently retired from racing and the winner was one of the most promising young thoroughbred showjumpers on the circuit while second placed Zaaki (GB) needs no introduction.

Gold Pegasus and Rebecca Bates.

Unusual buckskin thoroughbred Gold Pegasus and his rider Rebcca Bates did very well at the TSHA National Titles earlier this year (read about them here) and took their A game to Tamworth to be rewarded with a win, while second placed Zaaki with super young Scone based order rider Charlie Richardson was the crowd favourite.

Zaaki (GB) and Charlie Richardson.

Trained by Annabel Neasham, Zaaki raced up until December 2023 and this time last year was third to Fangirl in the Group I Winx Stakes with his overall race record standing at 15 wins from 48 starts with prizemoney topping $11million.

Final results:

1. REBBECCA BATES - GOLD PEGASUS
