Caulfield Guineas Field and Barrier Draw

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 9

The $3million MRC Caulfield Caulfield (1600m) is the highlight race for three year-olds this weekend and newly crowned Australian Champion 2YO 2023/2024 Broadsiding will run a short priced favourite.

Broadsiding will be looking to add to Godolphin's success in the Caulfield Guineas - image Steve Hart.

Godolphin have won this race previosuly with Helmet, Long John, Anamoe and Golden Mile.

Stepping up to his favoured 1600m trip, the James Cummings trained Broadsiding looks tough to beat, but Caulfield can be a graveyard for high class three year-olds having their first experience at the track and there are some up and comers that could surprise.

Angel Capital is two for two this spring, while Mayfair was beaten a head and a head when third in the Golden Rose and Evaporate, one of two geldings in the field, is undefeated  this season with four wins on the trot.

Written Tycoon colts Public Attention and Private Life are yet to win a stakes race and Snitzel colt Wanaruah in the same boat, but all three are drawn to make their presence felt.

In recent years, the race has been won by The Autumn Sun, Super Seth and Ole Kirk, now three of the most promising sires in Australasia.
