More Success for Newgate Raised Prompt Response

Tara Madgwick - Sunday February 11
The Group II ATC Breeders Classic at Warwick Farm on Saturday was won by quality Beneteau mare Prompt Response, who was foaled and raised at Newgate Farm for her owner breeders Ron Hamer and Mark Sowerby.

Prompt Response returns in great orderPrepared by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, she earned a third stakes success when resuming from a spell to score a dominant length and a half win in the 1200 metre sprint.

"She's been so consistent throughout her career so very thankful to see her do that today, more so for the owners because they've been very patient with her," Bott said.

"But today she's come back with an explosive win and put the writing on the wall of what's to come this preparation.

"It was a very strong run race so the way the race panned out played into her hands – she was able to get a lovely cart into the race."

Bott said Prompt Response (image Steve Hart) would be aimed Group I races like the Coolmore Classic (1500m) and Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) this autumn.

Prompt Response has the overall record of four wins and nine placings from 21 starts with earnings in excess of $800,000.

This Dissident colt from Prompt sold for $525,000 at MMA sister to 2014 Group III VRC Maribyrnong Plate winner Prompt Return, she is the fourth foal of the Exceed And Excel mare Prompt whose first two foals are stakes-placed Diamond Glow and Hong Kong winner Mr Right.

Prompt is now in the ownership of SF Bloodstock and has a yearling colt by Newgate Farm's Australian Horse of the Year Dissident that sold for $525,000 at the recent Magic Millions Yearling Sale to the bid of George Moore Bloodstock.

She produced a colt by Medaglia D'Oro (USA) last spring and is now in foal to Capitalist.
