A Million Reasons to Invest!

Tara Madgwick - Thursday December 19

Just when you though the million dollar races were finished in Australia for the year it seems we have another with the $1million Supernova (1400m) at Pakenham on Saturday attracting a field of 14 that includes a couple of geldings that have already won $1million races this year as featured in a story we did earlier this week.

The Lindsay Park Racing boys have a two pronged attack with classy sprinter Arkansaw Kid carrying the top weight of 59kg and Kiwi bred Here to Shock looking well placed off a freshen up.

He has not raced since the $3million ATC Big Dance when midfield behind Gringotts under 62kg, having beaten that horse at his previous start when taking out the $1.5million ATC Alan Brown Stakes (1400m) following on from his win in the Group III Newcastle Cameron Handicap (1400m).

In the era of big prizemoney, this spritely seven year-old gelding by Shocking has never had it so good and has now banked just shy of $2million in prizemoney, a massive return given he was purchased for just $70,000 from the Cambridge Stud draft at Karaka Book 1 by Slade Bloodstock.

Nadal wins the $1million The Meteorite at Cranbourne - image Racing Photos

Ciaron Maher will be looking to make it a Merry Christmas for the owners of four year-old Xtravagant gelding Nadal, who won his first million dollar race last start when taking out The Ladbrokes Meteorite (1200m) at Cranbourne.

Tested in the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes and ATC Golden Rose at three, Nadal is enjoying a lucrative step back in grade at four and a win on Saturday will see him also tick up $1million in lifetime prizemoney.

Nadal was a $250,000 Inglis Premier purchase from Newhaven Park for his trainer and his full brother will be offered by Newhaven at Magic Millions as Lot 689.
