Vinery Stars for Magic Millions

Vinery sires have been firing on all cylinders in the lead up to Magic Millions and particularly the young guns with Ole Kirk riding high on the first season sires list with two stakes-winners and Exceedance siring his fourth individual stakes-winner earlier this week.

A tried and true proven source of Group I horses, Vinery Stud have an impressive list of sales graduates that include Golden Slipper winner Farnan and Blue Diamond winner Artorius, not to mention Exhilarates, who won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic in 2019.

The current crop of star Vinery performers include three stakes-winning three year-olds this season in Too Darn Lizzie, Gatsby’s and of course the colt who may well be the best of them all come the autumn, Growing Empire.

With four wins from eight starts and $2.9million highlighted by Group I placings in the ATC The Everest and VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes, Growing Empire is the colt everyone would like to own.

Lot 264 Colt I Am Invincible x Chica Fuerte by Hinchinbrook

Second foal of dual Group III winner Chica Fuerte from an international family that has also produced Australian Group I winners Assertive Lad and Assertive Lass. The first foal from the mare and this colt’s full-sister is a 2YO named Gambers who was retained by their breeder and is currently in work with Anthony & Sam Freedman.

Lot 272 Colt Frankel x Cleanup, by Dehere (USA)

Conceived in Northern Hemisphere by champion sire Frankel. Half-brother to dual Group I winner and $2.5million earner Nettoyer and dam has had six foals to race and all are winners. Dam is a half-sister to stakes-winner She’s Clean, the dam of this season’s Group II The Ingham winner Robusto, who is closely related to this colt being by another son of Galileo in Churchill(IRE).

 He is by international super sire Frankel, who strikes at a remarkable 17% stakes winners to runners. Frankel’s international success has also made waves in Australia with G1 winners Hungry Heart and Converge.

Lot 524 Filly The Autumn Sun x Islands, by I Am Invincible

Second foal of a winning half-sister to Group II winner and Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Military Rose, the grand-dam of Group III winner Espionage. Traces in tail female line to blue hen Summoned. First foal is 2YO Bivouac filly Cavalry Girl, who is showing good ability in the Tom Dabernig stable.

Lot 650 Colt Snitzel x Medovina by Exceed and Excel

Third foal of a winning half-sister to Group III winner Brave Mead, stakes-winner Solemn and to the dam of Group III winner Raff Attack. Bred on the same Snitzel x Exceed and Excel cross as Group II winner Lofty Strike.

Lot 867 Filly I Am Invincible x Saas Fee, by All Too Hard

Second foal of Group III placed sister to Group III winner Hard Landing and daughter of Group I VRC Lightning Stakes winner Snitzerland.

Lot 878 Filly Snitzel x Sanity, by Lonhro

Half-sister to a winner from a winning sister to Group III winner Trim (dam of Group III winners Manicure and Barber) and to the dam of Group I winner Gatting. Bred on the same Snitzel x Lonhro cross as Group III winner Bruckner and SW’s Sandpaper, Wayupinthesky and this season’s boom Kiwi trained juvenile SW Return to Conquer.
