There were six juvenile heats at the Rosehill barrier trials on Tuesday with a first look at two impressive youngsters by I Am Invincible a highlight along with another Farnan youngster confirming his talent.
Heat 11 saw some proven quality engaged but Gambers, having her first public appearance put herself up as one for the future with an impressive win.
The Anthony and Sam Freedman trained daughter of I Am Invincible won by over a length with seemingly plenty in reserve, beating the Gimcrack Stakes and Magic Millions 2YO Classic placegetter Memo, with Snitzel Miss, a debut third in the Group II Widden Stakes, finishing third.
Gambers is the first foal of Group III Ethereal Stakes winner Chica Fuerte (Hinchinbrook) and was retained by her breeders Glentree Pastoral.
Her yearling full sister was sold this year however, making $600,000 to Ciaron Maher and David Redvers from the Vinery Stud draft at Magic Millions Gold Coast.
Invincible Phantom was another I Am Invincible youngster having his first public outing and did it beautifully, winning in the fastest time of the 900m two-year-old heats.
The Bjorn Baker trained colt was a $160,000 buy for his trainer and Clarke Bloodstock from Yarraman Park at Inglis Premier, which saw him the cheapest of six offered by his sire at that sale.
He’s the first foal of Redoute’s Choice mare Miss Carlotta, an unraced three-quarter sister to stakes winners Autumn Ballet and Albrecht from the family of Lonhro.
The runner-up in the heat is also one that has been showing promise in Farnan’s Farnished, a $650,000 yearling for Waterhouse/Bott from Widden Stud at Magic Millions
He’s trialled strongly several times now, twice this preparation and looks ready to go to the races.
Farnan is not short of two-year-olds showing promise at the trials, have a look here, and you can add the Ryan/Alexiou trained Grand Eagle to that list after an impressive win in Heat five.
He was the highest priced by his sire at the Inglis Classic Sale last year, bringing $300,000 to the bid of George Moore Bloodstock form Valiant Stud.
Golden Eagle is out of the Pierro mare Sauvignon and a half-brother to Listed winner Chilled (Shalaa) from a family which includes Group I Blue Diamond winner Catchy.
This was his best of three trials, two this current preparation, and one suspects his future may rest in Hong Kong given his connections.
Heat 10 saw the second trial for the Ryan/Alexiou trained Pleasure Queen and looking like one with potential for Trapeze Artist.
She was given a very easy trial at her first appearance but was asked for more of an effort here and did it nicely to win, with debut Group III Chairman’s Stakes winner Inkaruna finishing third.
Pleasure Queen is the full sister to the promising Pleasure Artist, 2nd in the Listed Dulcify Quality and 5th in the Group I Spring Champion Stakes and Vic Oaks from only five starts.
She is raced by her breeders, the Vieira family and is the third foal from Pierro mare Perfect Pleasure, a half-sister to stakes winners Torio’s Quest and Bippo No Bungus.
Other juvenile trial winners were Archimage (2c Capitalist x Denmagic) and Onmalone (2g Menari x Love’s A Fantasy)
