First Winner for Time To Reign

Craig Tompson - Thursday March 13

Kingstar Farm’s freshman stallion Time To Reign has had a couple of metropolitan placegetters and broke through for his first winner at Wagga on Thursday with Timeless Grace.

Time To Reign

Having her first start, the two-year-old filly had trialled three times in Sydney and then impressively at Moruya when switching to the Luke Pepper stable, which saw her start favourite.

She was let find her feet early by Blaike McDougall, drifting back before coming with a powerful late burst to beat Glenn's Legacy (Sandbar) by just short of a length with Lookacrossthewater (Sandbar) third.

She's been a lovely filly since arriving at the stable,” said Pepper.

“She's just got better and better. We weren't exactly aiming to go to the races with her, but we trialled her down at Moruya, gave her a trip away, and trialled her like she was ridden today, nice and quiet, and let her finish off.

“I think she's definitely going to be a filly to watch next preparation. “

Timeless Grace is a homebred for Darby Bloodstock’s, Scott Darby, out of Manhattan Rain mare Mornington Mist, a stakes placed metropolitan winner which he bought for $7,000 on Inglis Digital in 2021 before sending her to Time To Reign, a horse also raced by Darby.

Her grand-dam is Group II winner Compulsion daughter of top-class juvenile Bold Promise who left Golden Slipper winner Merlene and dual Group I winner Miss Pennymoney.

The race was a boon for the first season sires with Kooringal Stud’s Sandbar siring the placegetters in Glenn’s Legacy and Lookacrossthewater.
