$1.7million Colt a New Benchmark for Extreme Choice

Tara Madgwick - Sunday April 6

Extreme Choice has just had his service fee for 2025 announced at $330,000 and the Newgate Farm based super sire might lack for numbers, but never quality and his dashing grey colt from Shadow set a new benchmark for his sire at Inglis Easter on Sunday when selling for $1.7million.

$1.7million Extreme Choice colt from Shadow.

Consigned by Coolmore on behalf of his breeder Kate Nivison, the colt was purchased by B2B Thoroughbreds, who earlier in the day sold a Snitzel colt from La Mexicana that was consigned on their behalf by Segenhoe for $1.7million to James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership / Tony Fung Colts / Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing.

The colt is a full brother to the promising Michael Freedman trained two year-old filly Apocalyptic, who ran second at her only start last December behind Gallo Nero at Randwick.

She is the third foal from unraced Medaglia D’Oro (USA) mare Shadow, a full sister to Group II placed Geist, a daughter of dual Group I winner Virage de Fortune, who traces back on her tail female line to the champion mare Emancipation.

That grey gene from the great mare keeps passing down that female line and has hopefully brought a measure of her talent with it!

Ricky Surace of B2B Thoroughbreds confirmed the colt will be heading in to the care of champion trainer Chris Waller.
