Swettenham Stud Announce Fees

Media Release - Wednesday April 30

Swettenham Stud are delighted to announce a select roster of exceptional stallions for the 2025 breeding season with a range of values, physiques and pedigrees that are complementary to the Australasian broodmare pool.

We pride ourselves on recognising industry trends and making conscious decisions that will bene?t breeders. Commencing this season, we will add an additional layer of protection for the breeders who support us with the Swettenham Breeder Protection.

The Swettenham Breeder Protection gives breeders the added con?dence that if anything happens in the ?rst three months of the foal’s life that prevents them from being a racing prospect, Swettenham Stud will honour a free return on all stallions.

Our 2025 roster is headlined by Victoria’s number one active sire TORONADO, who continues to surge in an upward trajectory.

Toronado

Toronado was a top 5 sire in the world for winners in 2024, one of only TWO Australian sires to achieve this feat.

Toronado’s yearling sale average skyrocketed by over 55% in 2025, highlighted by the Toronado x Hardly Surprising colt at Gilgai Farm selling for $1,000,000 as the equal top lot at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

It's remarkable to see what Toronado has been able to do thus far, with all racing crops being from $27,500 service fee or less, except his current season 2yo’s who were conceived from a $49,500 service fee.

This year’s record-breaking yearlings were the ?rst conceived from his $88,000 service fee and certainly cemented him as one of the best proven sires in Australia.

Toronado will remain at an unchanged fee of $88,000 incl GST for the 2025 season, presenting as a golden opportunity with his best crops still to come.

Explosive, blue-blooded sprinter LOFTY STRIKE returns for his 2nd season at stud.

Lofty Strike

After covering a high quality book of 115 mares in his ?rst season at stud, Lofty Strike’s precocious pedigree and race performance should be recognised as a golden opportunity for breeders to capitalise on the upside of his ?rst crop.

The second busiest ?rst season sire in Victoria and arguably the best bred and sharpest freshman sire should give breeders con?dence to support the stallion through his formative years, just like Toronado.

Not only is he the only stallion at stud out of a Golden Slipper winner (Overreach), Lofty Strike’s Champion sire Snitzel has produced more Golden Slipper winners than any other active sire.

Lofty Strike will continue to remain as great value access to some of Australia’s best bloodlines, standing for $22,000 incl GST for the 2025 season.

Our Group 1 winning son of Wootton Bassett, WOODED will shuttle for his 4th consecutive season, on the back of some outstanding yearling sales results.

Wooded

Wooded produced the best service fee multiplier at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale of all ?rst season sires with an average of $120,000, while his yearlings sold for up to $200,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale.

Already making waves in Europe, Wooded has sired 20 ?rst crop winners including Stakes winner Woodshauna.

We’ve already seen the impact Wootton Bassett is making with his ?rst Southern Hemisphere crop, running at 40% Stakes horses to runners. This gives us tremendous con?dence that Wooded will make it as a high-class sire in Australia for years to come, as he is very much in the mould of his Champion sire.

Wootton Bassett’s only son at stud in Australia, Wooded will stand for a reduced fee of $16,500 incl GST in 2025.

Rising young sire I AM IMMORTAL will continue to represent spectacular value for Victorian breeders, even of the back of some headline making stars in recent months.

I Am Immortal has asserted himself as the best value VOBIS sire, producing $1,000,000 VOBIS Platinum Showdown winner McGaw and VOBIS Gold Ingot winner I Am Velvet.

VOBIS Gold Reef winner Athanatos most recently added a Group 3 win to his name having been knocking on the door for group success after winning or placing in all bar one of his 14 starts whilst Saluted, the undefeated 2yo ?lly by I Am Immortal looks destined for Group success after blowing her rivals away at Moonee Valley recently.

I Am Immortal represents incredible value, standing for a reduced fee of $8,800 incl GST in 2025.

Proven son of Shamardal, PUISSANCE DE LUNE will remain available to breeders who wish to support the stallion who continues to throw quality racehorses and now has 100% winners to runners in Hong Kong. He will also remain nominated for the lucrative VOBIS scheme.

Puissance de Lune’s value fee is available on application.
