Million Dollar Goal for I Am Invincible Filly

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday May 7

Tony and Calvin McEvoy landed a lucrative victory in the $1million Magic Millions National 2YO Classic in May last year with Arabian Summer and are hopeful they have another filly that can do the job this year in Sisstainable.

Fourth, second and third in her previous three starts, two of them in stakes races, I Am Invincible filly Sisstainable looked to have a class edge on her rivals in the 1000m juvenile maiden at Eagle Farm on Wednesday.

Ridden by Andrew Mallyon, she was sent out as favourite and duly opened her account with an easy two length win.

Sisstainable was a $450,000 Magic Millions purchase for McEvoy Mitchell Racing/Belmont Bloodstock Agency from the Widden Stud draft and is the first foal from Group III winning Zoustar mare Sisstar, a full sister to Champion 3YO Filly Sunlight and Group III winning filly Clean Energy.

Sisstainable was a $450,000 Magic Millions purchase from Widden Stud.

The McEvoy stable prepared both Sunlight and Sisstar, so it was never surprising to see Sisstainable also join their team.

“She's a lovely, sweet filly, although she's very small. She didn't grow much, but she's fast and she thinks she's good,” said Tony McEvoy, who believes she’s been a bit unlucky not to have won before today.

“She's been a little bit stiff at home, she's run really well in a couple of stakes races and was quite unlucky last start in Adelaide.

“This looked a lovely race and then she'll go to the million dollar race (MM National 2YO Classic, May 23) that we were lucky enough to win last year with Arabian Summer.”

In time, McEvoy thinks Sisstainable will be strong at the 1200m, which was the pet distance of her close relation Sunlight, who won the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes, Newmarket Handicap and MVRC William Reid Stakes all at 1200m.

“I think 1,200 will be okay for her. She's from a speed family that I know well with Sunlight and Sisstar as I bought both of them as yearlings,” said McEvoy.

“I think we'll keep her in her zone at the moment, but we'll let her do the talking. She's very sassy, I can tell you that. Small fillies with big attitudes. I like them!”

Sisstar has been a tricky producer and has not had a foal since Sisstar, although appears to be in foal to Anamoe.

Sisstainable is the eighth two year-old winner this season for I Am Invincible and five of them are stakes-winners headed by Group I winner Vinrock.
