Ciaron Maher a $2million Buyer and $2million Seller

Tara Madgwick - Thursday May 8

In quick succession at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale, champion trainer Ciaron Maher was in the limelight as a buyer and seller with I Am Invincible mare Tiz Invincible departing his stable to the tune of $2.8million, while a few lots later he was a purchaser signing for Too Darn Lizzie at $2.4million.

Tiz Invincible was sourced from Inglis Easter in 2022 for $550,000 by Bahen Bloodstock / Ciaron Maher Racing / Eric Lucas / Astute Bloodstock and proved a top class filly winning the Group II ATC Furious Stakes and Tea Rose Stakes.

The daughter of I Am Invincible was purchased by Tom Magnier and comes with a big pedigree being from Amuletum (GB), a winning half-sister to Australian Horse of the Year Anamoe.

She also has a two year-old full brother in the Ciaron Maher stable in Navy Pilot, who is heading towards Black Type races in Brisbane.

Tom Magnier has a great track record purchasing high end mares at this sale and Tiz Invincible will fit right in at Coolmore Australia.

“She's a very good-looking mare, and we’ll be sending her to Wootton Bassett,” he said.

“Obviously, I don't have to explain Wootton Bassett. We're very fortunate to have a stallion like him.

“He's standing at $350,000 this year. We're hopeful now to send our best mares to him and there's been some great inquiries from the best mare owners in the country, so we are locking into the stallion now and we'll hope for a bit of luck.”

Ciaron Maher Bloodstock was the buyer for the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Too Darn Hot (GB) filly Too Darn Lizzie, a Group II winner of over $800,000 that finished down the track last Saturday in the Group I SAJC Australasian Oaks.

Purchased initially as a yearling at Magic Millions for $1million by  McKeever Bloodstock/Watership Down/Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing, she raced for Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, who has had a great result from the filly.

Her weanling full brother topped the Inglis Weanling Sale on Monday selling for $775,000 so there is more to come from this family.

Footnote: Ciaron Maher Racing was a standout leading vendor, selling all eight lots offered for $12,775,00

Ciaron Maher traded his trainers hat for a bloodstock one with great success.
