Trapeze Artist filly Wins Listed Gold Coast Bracelet

Tara Madgwick - Saturday May 10

Godolphin don’t buy many yearlings at Australian sales, but one that did take their fancy at Inglis Easter in 2023 was a $260,000 Trapeze Artist filly they purchased from Widden Stud and she became a stakes-winner on Saturday.

Trained by James Cummings and ridden by Jason Collett, Pinito improved on her last start second in the Listed BRC Princess Stakes to score a commanding three length win in the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) making light of the heavy ground and driving rain.

Pinito is nothing if not consistent and has never missed a place in 10 starts with two wins and eight placings netting over $200,000 in prizemoney.

Pinito is likely to progress towards the Group I BRC Queensland Oaks on June 7.

"It was a great effort in the end, because she didn't really want to go early. I had three sets of goggles and a visor, it was very difficult to see but I knew I was on the back of the right horse. We got a good drag into the race and we were able to flow into it,” said Jason Collett.

"Early on you probably wanted to be on the fence, but as the day has dragged on you wanted to get away from the inside part of the track. It's very, very wet out there now."

Pinito was a $260,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Widden Stud.

Bred by the Vieira Group, Pinito is the best of two winners from Waltzing Wodka, a winning half-sister by Sebring to Group II winners Zloties, Seaburge and Catch a Fire from the family of Group I winners La Volta and Mighty Boss.

Waltzing Wodka is married to Trapeze Artist and has never been to another stallion.

She is being offered at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale as Lot 886 and is in foal to Trapeze Artist.

Pinito is the fifth stakes-winner for Trapeze Artist, who stands at Widden this spring at a fee of $33,000.
