Wootton Bassett 2YOs on the March

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 5

Wootton Bassett’s star Northern Hemisphere two year-old Albert Einstein has been ruled out of Royal Ascot with a sprained joint that will require a few weeks off, but the red hot sire added two more talented debut winning juvenile colts at The Curragh overnight.

Both colts are Coolmore homebreds trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore with Amadeus Mozart winning on debut at 7f, while Flushing Meadows kicked off with a victory over 6f.

Amadeus Mozart won on natural talent racing near the pace and kicking on strongly under pressure to win by half a length.

Amadeus Mozart is the first winner from Galileo mare Pendant, a half-sister to Group I winning sprinter Garswood and the runner up Dorset is also by Wootton Bassett from Snowflakes, a full sister to four time Group I winner and Champion European 3YO Filly Winter.

Flushing Meadows stepped out over the slightly shorter trip and surged to the line to win by a length and a half running away.

Flushing Meadows is a half-brother to Gasper de Lemos and is the third winner from Group III placed Galileo mare Hence, a full sister to triple Group I winner Alice Springs.

Aidan O’Brien was interviewed and offered his thoughts on all three colts going forward, all of them from mares by Galileo which is proving a fruitful nick with Wootton Bassett as you would expect.

Wootton Bassett is back in Australia this spring at Coolmore at a fee of $385,000.
