Inglis Ready 2 Race Entries Open

Media Release - Thursday June 5

Entries for the Inglis Ready2Race Sale – Australasia’s most progressive 2YO Sale – are now open.

The Inglis Ready2Race Sale has asserted itself as clearly the best Australian 2YO auction in terms of both sale ring and racetrack results.

Vendors who supported last year’s renewal of the auction were strongly rewarded – the average of $164,289 and median of $100,000 were both records for an Australasian 2YO Sale.

Last year's Inglis Ready 2 Race sale-topper was this Written Tycoon filly from Soriano.

The first ever seven-figure lot for this sale was also recorded last year when a Written Tycoon x Soriano filly of Baystone Farm realised $1m, while there were 50 lots which sold for $100,000 or more, 28 for $200,000+ and eight which realised $500,000 or more.

The 2024 gross of $15.6m was more than double that of the Magic Millions 2YO Sale and the spend was evenly split between Australian-based buyers ($7.98m) and international shoppers ($7.6m), with buyers including the likes of Waterhouse/Bott, Anthony and Sam Freedman, Caspar Fownes, Ciaron Maher, Clinton McDonald, David Eustace, Willie Leung, Francis Lui, YK Cheng, Harry Tsang, Hermitage, Andrew Williams, Lloyd Kennewell, Manfred Man, Mark Newnham, MC Tam, Price/Kent, Mitch Beer, OTI Racing, Joe Pride, John McArdle, Ricky Yiu, Shane McGrath, Triple Crown, Upper Bloodstock, Yulong etc.

This year’s sale, to be held at Riverside on Thursday October 16 – two days before the G1 The Everest – will be preceded by breeze up sessions at Taupo in NZ (Sept 29), Warwick Farm (Sept 29) and Wangaratta (Sept 30).

Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch said: “Inglis has committed a huge amount of time, money and resources to this sale format, which has really started to reap dividends in recent years.

“Over the past five years or so in particular, the quality of the stock and the nature of the participants has improved markedly as we look to compete with the 2YO sale in New Zealand.

“This reflected in the success of graduates such as Rubylot, who is one of the best young horses in Hong Kong, and high-class domestic money spinners like Libertad, Tavi Time, Democracy Manifest, Strait Acer and so many more.

“We have a huge domestic market into which stock can be traded and that has been a real area of strength for the Inglis 2YO sale, more so than any other Australasian 2YO sale.

“Further to that, the support of international buyers of our sales, particularly leading owners, trainers and agents associated with the Hong Kong market, has been incredible.

“Since the turn of the year, we have sold stock to buyers in 15 different countries around the world including the likes of Japan, China, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan and Mongolia and these extensive relationships are amongst those that we will be looking to leverage at the sale.

“Our International Business Development Manager Nicky Wong has been working tirelessly with buyers in any number of overseas jurisdictions to ensure unprecedented levels of international engagement with the Inglis Ready2Race Sale in 2025.

“The timing of the sale, to coincide with the G1 The Everest, is very deliberate and with Ka Ying Rising being announced as an Everest runner just this week, we expect the level of interest from Asian participants in The Everest will skyrocket as a consequence and the Inglis Ready2Race Sale can be a major beneficiary of that.

“We have set ourselves the objective of the 2025 sale being the best Inglis Ready2Race Sale yet and, off the back of a yearling sales series where Inglis generated market-leading levels of buyer engagement and participation, I am confident this can be the case.’’
