First Winner for Australian Derby Winner Levendi

Tara Madgwick - Saturday June 28

Blueblood Pierro colt Levendi won the Group I ATC Australian Derby for the Gelagotis stable back in 2018 and is now on the board as a sire having produced his first winner on Friday.

Trained by Pat Kearney and ridden by Jacob Opperman, two year-old gelding Tempt the Gods improved on his last start third at Mildura to lead all the way and win the 1100m maiden as favourite.

He scored by a length and a half at his third start making light of the heavy 9 conditions.

Tempt the Gods is the first winner from four runners by Levendi, who is also sire of the placed filly Bella Chinkara, who was also fourth in the Listed Elwick Stakes in Tasmania.

Tempt the Gods was a $5,000 Magic Millions Tasmania purchase for CJG Racing/Patrick Kearney Racing from the Broadmarsh Stud draft and is the first foal of placed Reset mare Hidden Charm, who was covered by Levendi again last year.
