Sebring Sun Delivers for Owner Breeders

Sponsored Content - by Tara Madgwick - Tuesday July 8

The legacy of Sebring was highlighted last month when his classy daughter Tashi won the Group I Tatts Tiara and for fans of the much missed Golden Slipper winning sire he does have several sons at stud and they include Glenthorne Park Stud’s Sebring Sun, whose winner to runner strike rate is brushing 70%.

With stats like that, Sebring Sun is an outstanding option for owner breeders chasing the dream on a budget.

A Listed winner that finished third in the Group I ATC Golden Rose, Sebring Sun has covered small books of mares since retiring to stud in 2018 and his runners are now doing the talking for him.

His first four crops of racing age were all conceived at a fee of just $3,300 and so far 46 have made it to the races and 32 of them have won!

They include multiple metro winners Acappella Sun, Acappella Moon and Acapella Nova , who has been sold to race in Hong Kong along with two more of his promising younger horses.

Sebring Sun has 25 two year-olds and so far just two have raced with the promising Travis Doudle trained gelding Golden Horizon saluting at Morphettville at his second race start beating Matahga, who came out and won a Listed race after winning at his following start.

For a stallion with small numbers, Sebring Sun is a regular in the winner’s list and featured on Tuesday at Muswellbrook where three year-old filly Myalaby won for the Tim McIntosh stable.

Myalaby has won three of 13 starts with four placings and has banked over $78,000 for connections, while another prolific winner this season has been the Luke Pepper trained four year-old gelding Hot Bandit.

He has won four times this season at Kembla, Canberra, Goulburn and Scone with his overall record now five wins and seven placings from 20 starts with prizemoney topping $126,000.

With burgeoning racetrack results and high fertility, Sebring Sun was priced at $6,600 last year and remains at that fee in 2025.
