Invincible Filly Wins on Debut

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 9

There were some nicely bred three year-old fillies looking to shed maiden status at Canterbury on Wednesday in the opening race and it was $850,000 I Am Invincible filly Infusion that got the job done at the first time of asking.

Trained by Peter Snowden and ridden by Tom Sherry, Infusion has been handled patiently and only had her first trial in May and with two more to follow was well educated for her debut and did everything right.

She jumped well to travel up and stalk the leader in second place before forging clear to win the 1100m maiden by three-quarters of a length over Extreme Choice filly Maquisa, who didn’t have the best of luck.

Purchased by Snowden Racing/William Johnson Bloodstock  from the Newgate Farm draft at Magic Millions for $850,000, Infusion is a half-sister to stakes-placed Tonneofgrit and is the fourth winner four foals to race from imported Group II winner Istanford (USA).

Infusion was an $850,000 Magic Millions purchase from Newgate.

Newgate sold an Extreme Choice filly from Istanford at Inglis Easter this year for $580,000 and she produced another filly by the same sire last spring.

I Am Invincible is edging towards 200 winners for the season and Infusion brings him to 194.
