The fourth most successful Inglis Digital auction in history tonight concluded with 15 lots realising $100,000 or more, leading to a gross in excess of $7m.
The July (Early) sale featured 25 lots offered by Godolphin, all of which sold for a combined gross of $2,150,259 to 24 different buyers.
There were many fantastic results within the Godolphin offering including the sale-topper Lavalier ($380,000), Pisces ($330,000), Spacewalk ($180,000), Pereille ($170,000), Snack Bar ($155,000), Fleetwood ($150,000), Razors ($135,000), Cloisters ($125,000), Hanau ($100,000) etc.
They were part of 15 lots to realise six figures - the equal-third most of any individual Inglis Digital auction - taking the number of $100,000+ lots in 2025 to 78.
Godolphin’s Jason Walsh was thrilled with today’s outcome.
“It’s another very pleasing and seamless experience with Inglis Digital,’’ Walsh said.
“It’s great again to have our horses appeal at all ends of the market to a wide range of buyers.
“Obviously there were some very strong results with Lavalier and Pisces especially but there’s lots of horses there finding new homes to loyal clients at many different price points and we’ll be watching them with great interest.’’
Top lot Lavalier will head to the Perth stable of Neville Parnham after being purchased by West Australian Santo Guagliardo.
The rising 4YO will be set for the $1m G2 Perth Cup as Ascot on New Year’s Day.
“We looked at all the Godolphin horses there and we loved him,’’ Guagliardo said of Lavalier.
“I’ve always wanted a good stayer and this guy has the credentials, he’s proven himself to be one of our best young stayers coming through and I think over here in Perth he might just be a really nice horse.
“Neville and I both liked him, we think he’s got a lot of potential and a nice future, he’s only three and he’s already building a nice record.’’
Parnham added: “The best is yet to come for him, he’s just maturing and coming into his own and his past two-to-three runs especially have been super.
“Originally we were looking at buying one of the older sprinters to bring across for a race over here but we just thought they might have found their mark already whereas this particular horse appears to have quite a future ahead of him as a 4YO, 5YO, even 6YO or whatever so we focused on him and were thankfully able to get him.
“These staying types are harder to find every year and he fitted the bill for us over here.
“We’re excited about the purchase and we think he’s a really live Perth Cup hope here and we’re hoping to then bring him back over east and see what is around.
“$380,000 is not cheap but we didn’t really have a target price, Santo is a bit spontaneous which is great so he thought he might get him for $300,000 but then that didn’t work and he thought maybe $335,000 and then $350,000, then he thought ‘bugger this, let’s put in a max bid’ and we got him for $380,000.’’
Today’s second-top lot was an unraced Wootton Bassett 2YO offered by Bella Jane Lodge, which sold to Jaeger and Co Bloodstock for $350,000 while Pisces from the Godolphin draft was next best at $330,000, selling to Calvin Tao and will head to Hong Kong.
“I noticed Pisces had recently placed and even won at G3 level before so I think he will be very competitive in Hong Kong,’’ Tao said.
“I haven’t decided on a trainer yet but I hope to win a Class 3 bonus with him and qualify him for the Four-Year-Old Race Series in Hong Kong.
“I find the Inglis Digital platform excellent and overseas owners can easily buy horses on it. The information is comprehensive and it’s a great platform for both buying and selling.’’
Central Bank – which sold to Hong Kong Bloodstock for $280,000 – will also head up to Hong Kong, according to buyer Anthony Fan.
“I’ve already booked him on a flight for September 8th,’’ Fan said.
“I’ve been trying to buy him for a long time already but it never eventuated so when we saw him come onto Inglis Digital we really focused on that.
“It’s my first time buying on Inglis Digital but it’s very good, I really liked it. I really like when you place a bid, the time extends for a couple of minutes, that really makes it exciting when you’re bidding from afar, it adds to the tension and thrill and gets people excited.’’
In total tonight’s sale grossed $7,099,309, to the delight of Inglis Digital Business Manager Nick Melmeth.
“It was a huge catalogue and that in itself presents some challenges but the sale has worked out very well and I’m particularly pleased with the clearance rate which currently sits at 77% but is sure to continue to climb,” Melmeth said.
“We are very grateful for the ongoing support of the platform by both vendors and buyers, the confidence the market has in the platform is a real source of motivation for our team.
“I must also thank the Inglis team as there is a massive amount of work that goes into servicing each sale effectively, but particularly in the case of a catalogue of this size.”
Entries for the Inglis Digital July (Late) Sale are now open and will remain so until next Wednesday, July 23.
The July (Late) Sale is assured of having significant global interest again given the confirmed presence of the G1-winning Champion 2YO Velocious (Written Tycoon).
The sale will also see the official launch of the new and improved Inglis Digital website.
Clients are urged to familiarise themselves with the new site and create their new platform log in ahead of the catalogue going live, to avoid a sale-day bottleneck of web traffic.
