Tenth Winner for Kings Legacy

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday July 29

King’s Legacy has had a promising start to his stud career with his tenth winner arriving on Tuesday while at the Rosehill trials one of his unraced youngsters produced a slick trial win to hold out Group performing colts Skyhook and West of Swindon.

Trained by Bjorn Baker and ridden by Dylan Gibbons, Whatalegacy was having his second lifetime trial and first this prep. He showed natural talent to lead throughout and win by half a length over Group III winner Skyhook and Group II placed West of Swindon.

It was the quickest of the juvenile heats run over 900m and the first three colts galloped right away from their rivals.

A $160,000 Inglis Premier purchase from Mill Park for Bjorn Baker Racing / Clarke Bloodstock, Whatalegacy is a half-brother to $2million earning Group I winning sprinter Benedetta, Group II placed Whatafox and multiple metro winner Sunset Dreaming and he might be another above average performer for his dam G2 placed dam Whatalovelyday.

It’s a serious old G1 family with Group I winners Pharoah, Leica Guv and Light Fantastic all on the page.

King’s Legacy posted his tenth winner when the Aaron Beck trained filly Next Legacy stormed clear of her rivals to win the 1050m maiden at Rockhampton by more than three lengths.

Placed at her only three previous starts, she was overdue to break through and did so in style.

Next Legacy is the third winner from Dark Love, a winning half-sister by More Than Ready (USA) to stakes-winner Cohort and stakes-placed Dark Miss, the dam of Group III WA Oaks winner Dark Choice.

A dual Group I winning son of legendary sire Redoute’s Choice from the family of champion sire Not a Single Doubt, King’s Legacy is well priced this spring at $16,500.
