Olentia Sells for $2.6million to top MM August Virtual

Group II winning Zoustar mare Olentia was always seen as the likely sale-topper of the Magic Millions August Virtual Sale and she duly sparked interest with Olly Tait of Twin Hills Stud securing the mare on behalf of his international client Wathnan Racing for $2.6million.

It was a great result for the mares ownership group put together by Denise Martin’s Star Thoroughbreds.

Consigned for this sale by Glenesk Thoroughbreds, Olentia was purchased at Magic Millions as a yearling back in 2021 from the Tyreel Stud draft for $310,000 by Star Thoughbreds/ Randwick Bloodstock.

Sent to Chris Waller to train, Olentia proved a tough and consistent mare scoring seven wins from 1200 to 1500m with earnings just shy of $1million and three Group race wins with her final start last season a third in the Group I Tatts Tiara.

Olentia will be sent to the Northern Hemisphere to go to stud by Wathnan Racing with no stallion selected yet as her first partner.

Also selling for $1million at this sale was another Chris Waller trained stakes-winning mare in Vienna Princess.

The daughter of Snitzel missed in her first season to Zoustar last spring and the half-sister to Group II winner First Settler was snapped up by Highway Farm aka Yulong, who also stand First Settler.

Yulong also purchased stakes-winning Divine Prophet mare Fortunate Kiss for $500,000.

A stallion share in subfertile, but super successful sire Extreme Choice was bought by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock for $500,000.
