Debut Winner for Doubtland

Tara Madgwick - Thursday August 21

Standing at Widden Victoria, Not a Single Doubt’s young sire son Doubtland was one of the sires we saw in Victoria last week and he produced a stylish debut winner at Warrnambool on Thursday.

Trained by Matthew Williams, three year-old filly Celibate was stepping out for the first time in the 1100m maiden and was given a great ride by Dean Yendall, sliding through along the inside after turning for home to run clear and win by nearly two lengths.

A homebred for Balius Farm Thoroughbreds, Celibate is the third winner from Nitouche, a winning Hussonet (USA) grand-daughter of blue hen L’On Vite (USA), who left four stakes-winners headed by dual Group I winning sire Holy Roman Emperor (IRE).

The family has also produced Group I New Zealand Derby winner Sherwood Forest and Group II Waikato Guineas winner Field of Gold, so there is a real mix of speed and stamina.

Celibate is the fifth first crop winner for Doubtland and is his second of the new season.

Doubtland stands at a fee of $13,200.
