Impressive First Foals for Don Corleone

Tara Madgwick - Monday September 8

The first son of outstanding sire Extreme Choice to find his way to Queensland, Group I performer Don Corleone proved very popular with breeders last spring covering 133 mares at Eureka Stud and his first foals are exactly what you might hope for.

Second in both the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes and ATC Sires Produce Stakes, Don Corleone matched strides with the best juveniles of his generation and a win in either of those races would have seen him commence stud duties in the Hunter Valley.

Don Corleone stands at a fee of $13,200, click for more info and a Hypo mating.

Harry McAlpine seized the opportunity to stand Don Corleone at Eureka Stud and is liking what he is seeing.

“They are well marked, athletic movers and have the muscular physique of their sire,” said McAlpine.

One of the early arrivals is a colt from well related I Am Invincible mare Bleu Zebra, whose two year-old colt by Stay Inside fetched $1million for Eureka Stud at Magic Millions this year when bought by James Harron Bloodstock Colt Partnership/Tony Fung Colts.

Stay Inside is a Golden Slipper winning son of Extreme Choice, so the glorious colt below is a three-quarter brother to the $1million colt, who has been named Incognito and sent into the stable of Michael Freedman who prepared his sire.
