Zoustar Mare Joliestar Confirmed for Everest

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday September 10

Chris Waller Racing have today confirmed their slot for this year’s $20million Everest will be filled by five year-old Zoustar mare Joliestar, who is set to resume in the Group II ATC Sheraco Stakes at Rosehill this Saturday.

Joliestar was seventh in The Everest last year beaten a length and a half by Bella Nipotina, but has come out and won a pair of G1 sprints since then and two recent trials will have her sharp and ready to fire this weekend.

"She's just gone from strength to strength," Waller said in a statement.

"What she did in the Newmarket was exceptional, and to back it up in Brisbane shows the quality she possesses.

"She's matured beautifully and we couldn't be more excited to have her back for The Everest."

A $950,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Segenhoe Stud, Joliestar races in the Cambridge Stud black and gold chequers colours of Sir Brendan Lindsay and his wife Jo.

"Joliestar means a great deal to us," Lindsay said."She's not only flying the flag for Cambridge Stud in Australia, but she's also building a legacy that will one day return home with her to New Zealand.

"She had already achieved so much early in her career, but now she's elevating herself into that top echelon — arguably one of Australia's best sprinters.

"To see her represent our farm on a stage like The Everest is incredibly special."
