Anders 3YO Bright Future

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday September 17

An $80,000 NZB Ready to Run purchase for Cumani Racing last year, Anders gelding Single Choice is working towards repaying his purchase price after recording his second win from just four starts at Bendigo on Wednesday.

Single Choice scored a facile win on the synthetic surface at Ballarat last month to break his maiden and made a smooth transition to the grass.

He settled off the pace for Eoin Walsh and despite travelling deep throughout was able to find the line well and take the 1300m Benchmark 64 event by half a length.

“I think it was nice to have him outside and just making up ground when he was ready to. We did see him lean in a little bit down the straight, but I think he'll get the hang of that as he strengthens up, but it was a great win I thought he did it very well,” said Matt Cumani.

“I thought it was a tough effort and for him to just keep improving  and to do that off the back of probably a weak race at Ballarat, I really like the way this horse is going.

“We can probably be a little bit more aggressive in where we go. We've been quite careful to not jump up too much in grade, and he is a gelding after all, so there's probably no need to, but we'll see if we can't find a nice three-year-old race in town for him next.”

Single Choice was offered at the NZB Ready  to Run Sale by Riversley Park, who purchased him from the Kingstar Farm draft at Inglis Classic for $80,000. He is one of two winners from stakes-winning Sebring mare Sebring Sally.

Anders is priced affordably this spring at Widden Stud NSW at a fee of $13,200.
