Inglis Ready2Race breeze up footage NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE

Media Release - Thursday October 2

Progeny of the likes of Toronado, Exceed and Excel, Harry Angel, Zoustar and Ole Kirk were amongst the standout performers from breeze up sessions conducted this week in the lead up to the Inglis Ready2Race Sale on October 16, footage of which is now available online.

The Warwick Farm session included 2YOs by the likes of young stallions Ole Kirk, Harry Angel, Too Darn Hot, Farnan and Bivouac, plus proven sires such as Exceed and Excel, Star Turn, All Too Hard, The Autumn Sun and Zoustar amongst others.

Toronado (IRE) colt from Baccarat Baby.

The quickest time was recorded by the Toronado x Baccarat Bay colt (lot 188), pictured, offered by Cade Hunter and Liam Ruddy’s Hunter’s Lodge, which stopped the clock at 10.05 seconds for the 200m gallop on the course proper.

“We’re really happy with the draft we’ve put together,” Ruddy said.

“The Toronado colt has been an absolute stand out, every piece of work that we’ve done with him has been easy, he’s got the best temperament, he’s just so relaxed.

“Cade’s got a really good breaking and pre-training business and Sara Ryan is obviously a very established trainer so we joined forces and hopefully it makes a good recipe to have a successful sale,” Ruddy said.

An All Too Hard gelding (lot 19) which breezed in 10.10 and the Dirty Work x Pompeia colt (lot 99) which clocked 10.13, were amongst the Hannover Lodge offering to impress.

“Leandro [Riberio] who gallops the All Too Hard for us said he could easily go to the trials, he’s just a very intelligent, good moving individual,” Hinnerk Hueppe said.

“We’ve got quite a few classy horses that want a bit of distance, including The Autumn Sun x Dynamic Lips colt (lot 222), he breezed up quite professionally (10.74) and he’s still got lots of improvement to come, you can tell by the way he gallops.”

At Taupo in New Zealand, the seven New Zealand-based vendors unveiled a strong line-up of 2YOs, led by a pair from Prima Park who recorded the fastest times of the session, stopping the clock in 10.38 and 10.45 seconds respectively.

They were the Exceed and Excel x Sharapova colt (lot 128) and the Farnan x Tuscan Piazza gelding (lot 150).

“We’ve thought a lot of the Exceed and Excel colt since the first time we galloped him, so it was really encouraging to see all our hard work over the last few months come to fruition today,” Kelly Van Dyke said.

The Autumn Sun x Hole in Ten colt (lot 32) was another eye-catcher, breezing in a time of 10.45 for Jamie Beatson’s Ohukia Lodge, who will bring four 2YOs across the Tasman this year.

The final breeze up session was at Wangaratta on Tuesday, where Nolen Racing was responsible for a number of standout performers, highlighted the by the Pinatubo x Queen Himiko colt (lot 109) which posted 10.22 with Luke Nolen aboard.

“I’ve always had a really high opinion of the Pinatubo colt, I bought him from the Easter Sale and my son Luke Nolen breezed him up and was very complimentary, said he felt like one of the best horses he’s breezed up for me,” Nolen said.

“Luke was also quite taken with the Portland Sky (lot 45) colt, he’s out of Jeanneau who was a runner-up in a Gimcrack Stakes.

“All the riders on my draft were very pleased with how they went, it’s great to have the services of Jake Duffy and of course Luke Nolen on breeze up day.

Among Dean Harvey’s Baystone Farm draft is a Zoustar filly from Ordos Honor (lot 89), already named Rachini, that trainer Troy Corstens believes would be good enough to make her presence felt in the Listed Debutant Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on October 15, the day before the Ready2Race Sale.

“She’s had a busy week, she trialled on Friday down the straight [at Flemington] and ran third and she was very good,” Corstens said.

“We breezed her today and she’s run 10.81, looking superb, but we’ve always had a massive opinion of her.

“As long as she continues to do well, I think she would be a very legitimate candidate for the Debutant – she’s that good,” Corstens said.

Harry Bailey, Inglis Bloodstock Sales Manager, was delighted with how the breeze-up sessions played out.

“We have a particularly strong group of horses for the sale, 85% of whom have been purchased specifically with this sale in mind,” said Bailey.

“Our expectations were that the breeze sessions would showcase a very high standard of horse and I think it’s fair to say that they exceeded our expectations.

“When people review the footage and do their due diligence at the sale, I think they will be very impressed by what is on offer and we are excited for the sale as a consequence,” said Bailey.

The Inglis Ready2Race Sale is Australia’s most progressive 2YO Sale, with recent graduates headlined by G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes-bound Rosberg, high-class Hong Kong performer Rubylot, as well as the likes of Tavi Time, Libertad, Democracy Manifest, Signature Scent and many others.

Inspections begin Monday, October 13 at Riverside Stables, with the sale commencing at 12pm (AEDT) Thursday, October 16.

It’s an exciting week in Sydney, with the $20m The Everest to be run at Royal Randwick on Saturday, featuring Hong Kong champion Ka Ying Rising and the best sprinters in Australia.
