First Up Win for Gavelhouse Graduate

Media Release - Monday May 14

gavelhouse Cunning Moves graduate kicked off proceedings on the right foot for his new connections with an impressive victory at Darwin on Saturday.

Cunning Moves was dominant in the 1100m maiden dash with a 6.3 length winning margin over his rivals and will now be aimed at another event in a fortnight's time according to his trainer, and jockey, Carl Spry who commented " Some horses don't acclimatise to the Darwin humidity and temperatures and also the oil-based dirt track but he's handled it all fine and trialled well leading into his race."

Cunning MovesOffered for sale on gavelhouse.com as he wasn't living up to his owner's metro-level expectations when racing in Victoria for Shae Eden, Spry secured Cunning Moves for $10,000 with the son of Foxwedge already reaping $15,375 for connections.

"The quality of maiden horses in Darwin is of a different level to that of Melbourne and he had form around some nice horses so I was keen to get a group of owners together to buy him."

With a small, select stable Spry attests to being very hands on with all his horses, believing that they all benefit from his experience and his weekend results back that up with two winners and a placing from four runners.

Cunning Moves, pictured as a yearling, is out of the Canadian-bred stakes-winning Stravinsky mare Dance to My Tune. Dance to My Tune's first foal Accelerato (Fastnet Rock) is also a winner while she was served by Coolmore's Triple Crown hero American Pharoah last spring.

Entries for the next gavelhouse.com Australia auction are due at 7pm AEDT on Monday 14 May. Enter online at www.gavelhouse.com or call 0396144882 for assistance listing.
