First Stakes Win for The Autumn Sun Half-Brother

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 28

The Listed Chantilly Grand Prix du Nord (2000m) in France overnight provided a first stakes win for blueblood Dubawi colt Azimpour, the half-brother to Champion Australian 3YO Colt and now G1 sire The Autumn Sun.

Ridden by Mickael Barzalona for Francis-Henri Graffard, Aga Khan Stud’s homebred Azimpour was having his first run off a break having not raced since finishing fifth in the Group I Chantilly Prix du Jockey Club back on June 1 behind Camille Pissarro.

He ran on well to score by a neck and has now won two of five starts.

He is expected to remain in training in 2026 after his interrupted preparation this year.

Azimpour is the third stakes-winner among six winners from six foals to race from Azmiyna (FR), who started her career in Australia before returning to the Northern Hemisphere and she appears to have been covered by Siyouni earlier this year.

Azmiyna has one daughter at stud in Australia in Archanna and she has a yearling filly by Maurice (Jpn) and produced a colt this spring by Dundeel.
