He's A Rippa for Love Conquers All

Mark Smith - Saturday May 19

Winner of the $1 million Racing Queensland Magic Millions QTIS Open (1300m) at the Gold Coast back in January, the well-named I'm A Rippa gave connections another thrill when he broke through for her first stakes win in Saturday's Group III BRC Sprint (1350m) at Doomben.

The Tony Gollan-trained son of Love Conquers All led all the way under Jeff Lloyd to defeat Privlaka (Mossman) by a short neck with Mr Sneaky (High Chaparral) a similar margin away third.

"He gives you 100 percent all the time and he's come back a better horse this prep," Gollan told AAP.

"His run last start at the Gold Coast was good and he loves getting back here to the 1350m at Doomben.

"He's one of the most honest horses I've had and I absolutely love him.

"He never lets me down. He runs a good race all the time and there's only improvement to come."

Gollan purchased the son of Love Conquers All for $55,000 at the 2015 Magic Million Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.

With his first stakes victory, I'm A Rippa advances his record to 6 wins, 6 seconds and 4 thirds from 24 starts with earnings of $910,757.

The 4yo gelding is the first foal of the 2-time winning Seidnazar mare Derippa.

You must delve four generations back to find the previous stakes winner, the Group III Blue Diamond Prelude winner St Rory.

Derippa has an unraced 2yo Sizzling colt named Jack Derippa, who was purchased by Aquis Farm/Blue Sky Bloodstock for $140,000 at the 2017 Gold Coast Yearling Sale and a yearling full brother to I'm a Rippa who was purchased by Gollan Racing/John Foote Bloodstock for $80,000 at this year's January sale.

Derippa has a weanling Foxwedge filly and was covered by Spirit Of Boom last spring.

I'm a Rippa becomes the second stakes-winner for Love Conquers All who stands the 2018 season at Sun Stud for a fee of $8,000 live foal.
