Black Caviar's Boy is Ready to Race

Darryl Sherer - Tuesday May 22

Black Caviar's second foal Prince Of Caviar is set to debut at Sandown on Saturday.

The two-year-old son of Sebring is an intended runner in the Taj Rossi Series Heat 2 over 1200m with Luke Nolen to ride.

Prince of Caviar - Darryl ShererPrince Of Caviar has come though his 800m jumpout last Friday in good order and has pleased co-trainer Wayne Hawkes.

"He's got better and better and works with you," Hawkes said. "We haven't asked him to do too much in his jumpouts but he's done everything right.

"He wasn't that precocious his last preparation but he's done everything right this time."

Hawkes said his gut feel is that, all being well, Prince Of Caviar will be sent to the spelling paddock after the Saturday race.

"He's inexperienced and he needs to have a run to have him in a good place for the spring. They can learn a lot in one run and then go to thepaddock," Hawkes said.

"He's ready to go to the races but it's not about this time with him, it's about the next time and the time after.

"As long as he gets a clean run then I'm just hoping he hits the line, the placing doesn't really matter as long as he runs well."
