New 2YO Stakes-Winner for Pinatubo

Tara Madgwick - Monday November 10

With his first Australian bred two year-olds running this season, Darley shuttler Pinatubo (IRE) was in the frame overnight in France with a new two year-old stakes winner Quiescent taking out the Listed Prix Herod (1400m) at Deauville in the Wathnan Racing colours.

Trained by Hamad Al Jehani, Quiescent bolted in to win by four and a half lengths with Maxime Guyon in the saddle.

Quiescent has made good progress during the latter half of the year reeling off three straight wins in the UK before travelling across to France for her first stakes win.

She has the overall record of four wins from six starts.

Quiescent is the first winner for Stay Silent, a winning half-sister by Cape Cross to Group I winner Mischief Magic and Group III winner Sound and Silence.

Stay Silent is a grand-daughter of Group I winner Gossamer with this family also producing Australian Group I VRC Oaks winner Zardozi.

Quiescent is the fifth stakes-winner for Pinatubo and is the second stakes-winner from his second crop joining Pintara, who won at a mile.

Pinatubo is back in Australia this spring at a fee of $38,500 and has 18 entries for Magic Millions 2026.
