Zoustar Mating for Coeur Volante - $500,000 on Inglis Digital

Media Release - Wednesday November 12

Talented mare Coeur Volante (Proisir) will visit reigning Champion Sire Zoustar after selling for $500,000 in today’s Spring Boutique Sale on Inglis Digital.

Offered by Lindsay Park Racing on behalf of Rupert Legh and partners, Coeur Volante sold to a partnership between Widden Stud and Bangaloe Stud.

Coeur Volante becomes the seventh lot to realise $500,000 or more on Inglis Digital this year alongside Fashion Faux Pas, Zoustar (Stallion Share), Extreme Choice (Stallion Share), Secure, Velocious and Ole Kirk (Stallion Share).

While a decision on when Coeur Volante heads to stud remains undecided, what is known is that she will be sent straight to leading stallion Zoustar, who was officially crowned Champion Sire of Australia just a few months ago.

Widden’s Antony Thompson was excited to have a mare of Coeur Volante’s ability and profile visit Zoustar.

“She’s a beautiful mare with a neat pedigree that had a dynamic 3YO season especially,’’ Thompson said.

“I’ve seen her on race days and saw videos of her in the lead-up to this sale but did rely heavily on [Inglis Bloodstock CEO] Sebastian [Hutch] who saw her last week and relayed his thoughts to us but it’s really exciting to have secured her.

“Whether it’s this season or next, we’ll let the dust settle before locking anything in like that but when the time does come, we think Zoustar will be an ideal match on both pedigree and type.’’

Bangaloe’s Julia Ritchie added: “I’m in the process of refreshing my broodmare band at the moment and she’s going to be a great new addition.

“I obviously bought a share in Zoustar on Inglis Digital last year and after speaking to Antony and the Widden team, we thought he would be a great starting point for a mare like Coeur Volante.

“My dad and Antony’s dad Bim Thompson were great mates back in the day so this is just the continuation of a long and prosperous friendship and working relationship.’’

For Inglis Digital Business Manager Nick Melmeth, the sale of Coeur Volante was another pleasing result.

“When Rupert mentioned to (Inglis Victoria Bloodstock Manager) James (Price) that there might be an opportunity to offer her, we jumped at the chance and we are very grateful to the partners for their support of the platform,’’ Melmeth said.

“Widden are incredible patrons of Inglis and have been supporters of Inglis Digital from the start, so we hope that she is lucky for them.

“It’s a strong partnership with Julia and all being well we will see a Zoustar yearling out of Coeur Volante come back through an Inglis sale ring in a few years’ time.”

Buyers don’t have long to wait to purchase their next online star, with the Inglis Digital November (Late) Sale opening for bidding this coming Friday afternoon.

The sale will include a draft from Australia’s leading breeding and racing operation Godolphin, which will comprise of 12 entries including G3 winner Corniche (Fastnet Rock).

Buyers have unearthed the likes of subsequent Stakes winners Alegron, Barber and Sandpaper in past Godolphin drafts and the upcoming sale provides the next opportunity to access their stock.

Entries for the sale remain open until midnight tonight.
