Making his career debut, the Melissa Dennett-trained King Percy came from midfield with a powerful finish in a 1000 metres handicap at Gunnedah on Sunday to credit the ill-fated stallion Unencumbered with his third first-crop winner.

Ridden by apprentice Louise Day, King Percy chased down Zoffany Magic (Zoffany) to win by a head with the favourite Onida (All American) a further four and a quarter length back in third.


Purchased by A Gilmore Bloodstock, China for $50,000 out of the Goodwood Farm draft at the 2017 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, King Percy is the first foal of the unraced Commands mare Mitrailleuse whose dam

Anniegetyourgun (USA) (Gone West) is a sister to the Group II winning stallion Royal Abjar (USA).

A son of Testa Rossa, Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Unencumbered died at Three Bridges in March from post-surgery complications.
