Chaldean Foals Popular at Tattersalls December

Media Release - Friday December 5

The first Northern Hemisphere bred foals by Cambridge Stud shuttler Chaldean (GB) were in keen demand at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale with a cracking filly leading the way when she changed hands for 240,000gns.

The top-priced daughter of our shuttle stallion, who had 25 lots sell for 2,686,000gns at an average of 107,440gns, was offered by Stringston Farm and knocked down to bloodstock agency SackvilleDonald.

Chaldean filly that sold for 240,000 guineas.

The grey is a half-sister to Group winners Melo Melo and Treasuring with their dam the Excellent Art mare You Look So Good.

It is the family of Lush Lips, successful in this year’s G1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Keeneland.

By sire sensation Frankel, Chaldean also had a colt consigned by Ireland’s Altenbach Bloodstock who was purchased by Juddmonte for 205,000gns.

He is out of the Camelot mare Mutrecy, a granddaughter of the G1 Coronation Stakes winner and former champion European filly Golden Opinion.

Eleven Chaldean foals sold for six figures or more, among them Tinnakill House’s filly that was secured by Norris/Huntingdon for 200,000gns.

A half-sister to stakes winer Bright Melody, she is out of the G1 Newmarket Fillies’ Mile winner Lyric Of Light with Australian Group winners Leebaz, Polish Knight, Zebrowski and Euro Angel on the pedigree page.

We partnered with Juddmonte Farms to shuttle dual Group 1 winner Chaldean, whose Northern Hemisphere home is at Banstead Mahor Stud in Newmarket.

Standing at $35,000 + GST, Chaldean has served top-class books of mares in his first two seasons at Cambridge Stud.
