The highly anticipated return to the races for exciting colt Cool Archie has been put on ice with co-trainer Chris Munce revealing the colt has an issue.

The Group I winning son of Cool Aza Beel was expected to resume in the Listed BRC Gold Edition Stakes this Saturday, but has not come out of his trial last week 100%.

"I wasn't happy with how he pulled up this morning and he has been sent off for scans," Munce told Racenet.

"Martin Harley had been excited, galloping him on the course proper at Eagle Farm this morning, but then the colt pulled up with an issue.

"He is obviously a valuable colt and we don't want to jeopardise anything with him going forward.

"It is disappointing for the whole stable.

"That's all the information I really have at the moment and we will know more in the coming days."

Cool Archie blazed through the autumn and winter winning five consecutive races at distances ranging from 1000 to 1600m, showing real brilliance and versatility stamping himself arguably as the best juvenile of his generation.

If Cool Archie does come out of the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas equation it is going to open that race up with a raft of up and comers on the order of entry for this $3million event on January 17.
