Inglis Digital year concludes on a high - Two Mares Sell for $140,000

Media Release - Wednesday December 17

Two well-related mares stole the show in today’s Inglis Digital December (Late) Online Sale, selling for $140,000 each in the final auction of 2025.

Merry Angelore – a sister to G3 winner Aviatress – sold to Victorian Andy Grant of APG Invest while G1 winner Ruthless Dame’s half sister Deadly Desire sold to Cambridge Stud.

Offered by Northmore in foal to Castelvecchio, Merry Angelore will be transported to Widden Stud in NSW before Grant decides his next move.

Merry Angelore sold for $140,000.

“I’ve owned horses for years and have got quite a few around the place with the likes of First Light and Roll The Dice and some of my own with Trent (Busuttin) and Natalie (Young) and Mick Price etc and I’ve been playing in the breeding field for maybe two or three years only,” Grant said.

“I was talking to Will Stott about upgrading the mares so we found this girl and Will thought she would be a good addition so we’ve bought her and will see what happens.’’

Northmore’s Tammy Notman added: “We’re very pleased, we were thinking of taking her to Chairman’s but seeing Aviatress have that recent Stakes win a couple of weeks ago we thought why not go with Inglis Digital while the timing was on our side.

“It’s so easy with Inglis Digital, as long as your videos and photos are good, that’s the key, we had calls about the mare in the lead up and she sold really well.’’

Deadly Desire sold for $140,000.

Today’s other equal top lot was the well-related 4YO Deadly Desire (Super Seth), a winning half sister to G1 winner Ruthless Dame.

Offered by Go Bloodstock, Deadly Desire sold to Cambridge Stud for $140,000.

“We’re thrilled with the sale price and it just goes to show you can achieve these results any time of year with Inglis Digital,’’ Go Bloodstock’s Steve O’Connor said.

“She’s a quality filly from one of the top families in New Zealand, an active family that’s really going places, so we wish Cambridge all the best of luck with her.’’

The third top lot in the December (Late) Sale was King Of Dragons, which sold to Goulburn trainer Matt Dale and bloodstock agent Suman Hedge for $120,000.

King Of Dragons was part of an unreserved reduction for Trilogy Racing, which grossed $274,100, to the delight of Trilogy’s Jason Stenning.

“There was a really good level of pre-sale engagement in the draft, we even got introduced to some new trainers as well which is great,’’ Stenning said.

“The bidding was consistently strong today, especially for this time of year when the breeding season is over so it was good to see the confidence still around in the market for all aspects of the draft.’’

There will be another Trilogy reduction draft in the Inglis Digital January Online Sale.

Another significant result in today’s auction was a 2.5% share in dual G1 placed filly Within The Law, which sold to US-based bidder Will Stroud for $40,000.

The result values Within The Law, a $30,000 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale purchase that is a triple Stakes winner, at $1.6m.

The Darby Racing-offered share is Stroud’s fifth purchase into Australian racing.

“Outside of the US, Australia offers some of the world’s highest prizemoney and most lucrative racing opportunities, making it an attractive market for racing investors like myself,’’ Stroud said.

“I’m only interested in the absolute top-tier bloodstock and I focus mainly on the fillies and mares and I’m committed to competing at the highest level globally.

“I see this as a strategic move to secure the best talent available in a minority stake but in a proven performing filly and future broodmare with an impressive pedigree.’’

In total today’s sale grossed $2,411,800.

Today’s was the final Inglis Digital online sale for 2025, with the calendar year finishing with 130 lots selling for $100,000 or more and gross sales in excess of $95m, to the delight of Inglis Digital Business Manager Nick Melmeth.

“We are very grateful for the support that we have received at all levels right through the year,” Melmeth said.

“It’s been an incredible year, with tremendous buyer engagement in each and every sale and extraordinary liquidity in the market.

“The launch of our new platform in July has improved what was already an industry-leading product and standard of service to an even higher level and we are excited by the prospect of working to scale new heights in 2026.”

There will be just one auction in January, which will run from January 16-21.

Entries are now open and will remain so until midnight on Wednesday January 14.
