Bloodstock Auction Rolls into 2026 on a High

Media Release - Wednesday January 7

Bloodstock Auction rounded out 2025 on a positive note with its final sale on 23rd of December, delivering strong clearance for racehorses. Highlighting the platform’s ability to uncover genuine racing and commercial upside at accessible price points.

A trio of proven and progressive racehorses; UNDERRATED (AUS), TALK DIRTY (AUS) and REAL DELUXE (AUS), illustrated why buyers continue to turn to Bloodstock Auction when seeking horses with tangible ability and future potential, without paying overs.

Underrated

One of the great performers of the final 2025 auction was UNDERRATED (AUS), who sold for $30,000, representing a great for the vendor.

The 4YO gelding by UNDER THE LOUVRE (AUS) has been a model of reliability throughout his career, never finishing worse than fourth in ten starts. A proven Queensland sprinter, UNDERRATED has won twice over 1200 metres, handled both wet and dry ground and regularly commanded strong market respect, starting odds-on on five occasions.

Purchased by Kimberly Burke, UNDERRATED will remain in Queensland to be trained by Leonie Horstman, a move that adds a personal element to the acquisition. “Well, he'll come back locally to Rockhampton and train with Leaonie Horstman. Just a bit of a girl’s team,” Burke said. “My Dad was always our trainer. That's how we got into the horses and everything, but we lost him a couple of years back. So, he'll just carry those colours on and follow on my dad's racing colours.”

Formerly trained by Clinton Taylor, UNDERRATED appealed as the type of acquisition buyers actively seek, a horse capable of returning immediately on the track while still offering upside through further progression. His pedigree further strengthened his appeal, being out of a stakes-placed, 100% producing STRATUM mare Merryanna, a half-sister to GOOD MASTER, and a sibling to multiple winners. At his price point, UNDERRATED stood out as a low-risk purchase with reliable earning potential and continued scope.

Talk Dirty

Another notable result was TALK DIRTY (AUS), who sold for $12,000 as a lightly raced, last-start-winning 3YO with clear upside.

By DIRTY WORK, TALK DIRTY has raced just three times but has already shown the ability to win, scoring decisively over 1250 metres at Cairns. His speed, tactical versatility and BM52 assessment position him as a horse capable of taking quick steps through his grade with the right placement.

Offered to dissolve a partnership, TALK DIRTY presented buyers with an opportunity to secure a progressive profile at an entry-level price, the type of horse that often delivers strong value relative to purchase cost.

Real Deluxe

Completing the trio was REAL DELUXE (AUS), who changed hands for just $11,000, a figure that belied her proven metropolitan credentials.

The 4YO mare by SESSIONS (AUS) is already a Saturday winner in Western Australia and a dual 1000-metre winner with prizemoney exceeding $126,000. Race-fit and assessed as a BM62, REAL DELUXE brings speed, toughness and immediate options for new connections. While her recent eastern states runs didn’t fully reflect her WA form, buyers recognised her front-running style, proven ability on wet and dry ground and pedigree depth as indicators of upside in a new environment.

Out of a 100% producing TEOFILO mare and from a family featuring multiple black-type performers, REAL DELUXE also offers residual appeal alongside her racing potential.

Bloodstock Auction representatives were pleased with the continued appetite for value-driven opportunities so late in the year.

Anthony Gafa

Bloodstock Auction founder and CEO, Anthony Gafa said, “This proves the online thoroughbred market is active year-round, particularly for racehorses. Even in our final sale of the year, horses exceeded expectations. As long as we keep investing in our platform and growing our member base, sellers will continue to achieve strong overs. In 2026, we’ll be running an auction every week. Online trading is now the norm, with over 50% of thoroughbreds changing hands digitally, and Bloodstock Auction has the proven track record to deliver results.”

The final auction capped a strong 2025 for Bloodstock Auction, reinforcing the platform’s reputation for delivering horses with future potential from proven campaigners to lightly raced improvers and established metropolitan performers.

As the calendar turns to 2026, Bloodstock Auction heads into the new year with momentum intact and buyers firmly focused on upside.
