Newhaven Draft Has That Magic Glow

Sponsored Content - by Tara Madgwick - Friday January 9

Newhaven Park is a family owned and run farm in the south west of NSW in the rolling hills of Boorowa and for generations the Kelly family have been producing champions and the current superstar to carry the RK brand might one day be the best of them all - Autumn Glow.

The undefeated four year-old mare is eight for eight with $6.8million in the bank and her trainer Chris Waller will no doubt be having a few sleepless nights over the summer as he plots her path through the elite races of 2026.

Autumn Glow isn’t the only G1 winner from the Newhaven nursery in 2025 with outstanding colt Cool Archie cutting a swathe through last year’s Brisbane Winter Carnival culminating with a dominant win in the Group I BRC JJ Atkins (1600m).

Cool Archie is one of three stakes-winners to come out of the Newhaven draft at Magic Millions in 2024.

Cool Archie was bought for $100,000 by Mick Malone Bloodstock and has won five of nine starts earning $1.6million.

The Playwright was bought for $60,000 by Tricolours Racing and Syndication and has won two of eight starts earning $833,000 with a win in the Group II ATC Widden Stakes and fourth placings in the G1 Blue Diamond and last year’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Cool Aza Rene was bought by David Ellis for $55,000 and has won five of 10 starts in New Zealand highlighted by the Group III Barneswood Farm Stakes.

Newhaven set low reserves and bring horses to the Gold Coast to sell at market price and that spells value for buyers.

Cool Archie put the spotlight on Cool Aza Beel, who has kept delivering winners and as we head towards the Magic Millions 2YO Classic next week, Cool Aza Beel looks to have two possible contenders.

Group placed Leaves Of Lorien is already qualified and the very promising Double Cool from the Chris Munce stable is set to run in the Gold Pearl this Saturday in a bid to force entry into the field.
