Gai and Adrian Secure $750,000 Justify Filly

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 13

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott won the 2024 Magic Millions 2YO Classic with an exceptional colt by Justify (USA) in Storm Boy and they signed for a cracking filly by the same sire at Magic Millions on Tuesday.

Consigned by Silverdale Farm, the powerhouse bay filly is the third foal from Group III winning Snitzel mare Bella Rosa fetched $750,000 when bought by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/Kestrel Thoroughbreds.

$750,000 Justify (USA) filly from Bella Rosa.

“We’ve had a bit of luck with Justify. We liked the filly and the farm keeps producing good results off there,” said Adrian Bott.

“She looked like the type of filly that could be getting us back to the race next year.

“We knew that she was going to fall into that top bracket of fillies within the sale and that’s what you’ve got to be prepared to pay for the ones that you want with the pedigrees and the type.”

Bella Rosa was an early two year-old winning the Group III VRC Ottawa Stakes and her stakes-winning dam Swiss Rose traces back to the family of Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Catnipped, so pedigree is a big tick for early speed!

Bella Rosa was bought by Grant Bloodstock/Andrew Williams Bloodstock at the 2020 Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $340,000 and has proven a savvy purchase with her previous two foals, fillies by Zoustar and Maurice (Jpn) selling for $420,000 and $500,000.

Bella Rosa produced a colt last spring by I Am Invincible and then went to Ole Kirk.
