Three heats won by juveniles at Randwick on Thursday morning and two of those winners were unraced fillies by Home Affairs and Farnan with a half-sister to the latter being sold at Magic Millions on Tuesday and might just be a saleyard gift!
Fastest of the heats by quite a margin was the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Farnan filly Better By Far, who was dominant in winning by more than two lengths at her second trial this prep.
Her yearling half-sister by Russian Revolution to Better By Far might have been well bought at Magic Millions on Tuesday, snapped up by Capri Racing & Syndication Pty Ltd/Peter Snowden, for just $130,000.
The John O’Shea and Tom Charlton trained Home Affairs filly Coco Affair travelled wide throughout and showed a nice turn of foot when asked to go forward in the straight and was eased down late to win by a neck over Extreme Choice filly Celestial Charm, a daughter of G1 winner I Am a Star.
All three placegetters were having their first trial and showed good potential.
Third heat was won by Extreme Warrior colt Half Pipe, who did a few things wrong when he made his debut at Randwick just after Christmas so was sent back to the trials by Rob and Annabel Archibald. He settled better back in the field and hot the line well to win narrowly.
Also keep an eye on I Am Invincible colt First Act. It was the first outing for the Chris Waller trained half-brother to Wodeton and he got a pass mark.
