The first Inglis Digital auction of 2026 was topped by well related mare Sliders – with an I Am Invincible colt foal at foot – selling for $400,000.
Offered by Coolmore on behalf of a client, Sliders sold to a delighted Ben Kwok, who has dreams of a visit to Darley stallion Too Darn Hot with the mare.
“I’m hoping he returns to Australia this year and I can get her to him but if not, I’ll find another good stallion,’’ Kwok said.
“She will stay in Australia anyway and I’ll probably retain the colt to race.’’
Kwok was full of praise for Inglis Digital, a platform he uses regularly.
“I’ve always loved Inglis Digital, they’re doing an amazing job and when the platform offers mares of the quality of Sliders, it’s a dream to the breeders to have access,’’ Kwok said.
“I love it, I honestly love it, it’s the best online place to buy, especially mares. Everyone at Inglis is so friendly and provide the best service.’’
Coolmore’s Brian McGuire was pleased with today’s outcome with Sliders.
“Sliders is from an outstanding family and her I Am Invincible colt foal is a lovely type so she deserved to make that sort of money,” McGuire said.
“The promotion of the package was excellent and it was helpful that (Inglis CEO) Sebastian (Hutch) came to inspect the mare and foal at the weekend.
“I know he fielded plenty of enquiries for her and that sort of service, along with the promotional video that was created by Inglis, shows why the platform has been so successful and why people like using it to buy and sell.”
Today’s second-top lot was the 3YO Portofino (I Am Invincible), which was offered by Newgate Farm, selling for $105,000.
Portofino sold to Tamworth-based Luke Berger - a former trainer and now runs an ownership management groups enterprise - who will send Portofino to Mudgee trainer Mack Griffith.
“He fits our model, we look for well bred horses with good form and then we place them with trainers with high strike rates and put them in a weaker jurisdiction,’’ Berger said.
“We actually bought a horse called Voracious off Inglis Digital in mid-December and won our hometown Cup in Inverell 10 days later, a race we’d been trying to win since 1987 with the family so it was a huge thrill.
“There’s no doubt Inglis Digital is the leading platform there is, I find it the most reliable and the best horses are on there twice a month, every month.’’
The Inglis Digital January Sale grossed $3,391,400.
Entries are now open for the Inglis Digital February (Early) Online Sale, which will run from January 30-February 4.
Among the confirmed early entries is a breeding right in first season sire sensation Anamoe.
A nine-time G1 winner, Anamoe’s first yearlings averaged $469,000 on the Gold Coast last week, with 31 of his progeny selling for a gross of $14.5m.
Anamoe also joined a rare club for a first season sire, producing a seven-figure yearling among his first sale offering.
“The way the market has accepted Anamoe’s first progeny has been unbelievable,’’ Darley’s Alastair Pulford said.
“He has covered incredible mares each season at stud and the sales results to date are reflective of the high regard in which he is held by investors.
“He really could be the next big thing, he has all the attributes to suggest he’ll be a tremendously successful stallion and his progeny certainly look the part.’’
